Concordia University acquired the Mother House of the Grey Nuns in 2004. The occupation and development of the complex and land will happen in phases, between 2007 and 2022.
The property, which has been confirmed as the future home of the Faculty of Fine Arts, will become the gathering place for Concordia’s artistic community and hub for creative synergies and cultural debate.
Our faculty are proud to be the new stewards of this historical site in the heart of Quartier Concordia. Find out more about the development of the Grey Nuns Mother House at the Building Concordia website.
The link between the legacy of the Grey Nuns and the future identity of the site as the Faculty’s home is celebrated through the work of our distinguished photography alumni and retired faculty in exhibition at the FOFA Gallery entitled Preoccupations: Photographic Explorations of the Grey Nuns Mother House.
Preserving the heritage of the Grey Nuns is the subject of Cinema Professor Marielle Nitoslawska's research at the Hexagram-Concordia lab Possible Movements. View the details of the Grey Nuns research/preservation initiative that includes digitally mapping the Grey Nuns Mother House.
