The Department of Theatre inspires and prepares students to enter Canada’s rapidly evolving performing arts culture. Creativity, imagination, and critical thinking are essential to students exploring a wide range of past and present approaches to theatre by combining traditional and innovative research under the guidance of faculty members active on the local, national and international theatre scenes. Courses and creative projects develop skills in acting, creative and theoretical research, production, design, playwriting, community arts and theatre for social change.
In addition, students enjoy the opportunity to take part in professional internships, and to train with faculty members and artists in Montreal’s dynamic arts community and beyond. Graduates are well prepared for future training, and established theatre practitioners frequently seek them out as interns and assistants.
