In 2008, following the inaugural Quebec Triennial, Sarah Milroy asked in a Globe and Mail article, “Is Montreal the real art capital of Canada?” Home to the only international biennial in Canada, Montreal boasts a vast network of museums, galleries and artist-run centres.

Our graduates and students benefit from an unparalleled level of support from these institutions:  Articule, Art Mûr, Battat Contemporary, Canadian Centre of Architecture (CCA), DARE-DARE, Dazibao, DHC/ART, Division Gallery, Galerie Clark, Galerie Donald Browne, Galerie Graff, Galerie Lilian Rodriguez, Galerie Push, Galerie René-Blouin, Galerie SBC, La Centrale, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA), Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal (MACM), McCord Museum, Oboro, Parisian Laundry, Pierre-François Ouellette Art Contemporain, ProjexMtl, SKOL and Studio XX.

Art festivals abound in Montreal with Concordia’s own Art Matters leading the pack as the largest, most established student-run arts festival in Canada. Art Pop is the visual arts component of the annual Pop Montreal Music Festival. For the past 10 years FIMA has taken over a one kilometer stretch of downtown Montreal for a display of art to the public. Nuit Blanche, the all-night art party, offers over 165 (mostly free) events as well as a no-charge shuttle service between 8pm and 5 am.
